Jessica Schmerler is a Senior Research Associate at Chardan covering biotech companies, with a focus on the central nervous system (CNS). Ms. Schmerler joined Chardan in the spring of 2019.
Prior to joining Chardan, Ms. Schmerler worked in portfolio management at Hall Capital Partners. She also previously contributed articles to Scientific American Mind magazine for several years. Ms. Schmerler conducted her thesis research in the laboratory of Dr. William Cafferty at Yale University where she studied genetic modulators of motor neuron recovery after spinal cord injury. She was awarded the Henry Edwards Ellsworth Memorial Prize from Yale for her research. She previously worked in the lab of Dr. Michael Kapiloff at the University of Miami – Miller School of Medicine, where she studied molecular pathways contributing to cardiac remodeling in heart failure.
Ms. Schmerler graduated magna cum laude from Yale University with a BS in Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology, Neurobiology track.
